Privacy Policy

Overview

Dittodle ("we", "the game") is a daily word-matching game. This policy explains what information is collected when you play, why, and how it's used. We don't require an account, an email address, or any personally identifying information to play.

Information we collect

When you play, your browser generates a random identifier stored in your device's local storage. This identifier isn't tied to your name, email, or any other personal detail — it exists only so the game can recognize repeat visits from the same browser (for example, to prevent playing the same day's puzzle twice).

We store the one-word answers you submit each day, associated with that anonymous identifier, in order to calculate how your answer compares to other players'.

Cookies and local storage

The game uses your browser's local storage (not traditional cookies) to remember your anonymous player identifier and a few display preferences, such as light/dark mode. You can clear this at any time through your browser's settings; doing so simply resets the game as if you were a new player.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, such as how many people visit and which pages are viewed. This data is anonymized and isn't used to identify individual visitors.

Advertising

This site may display advertisements served by Google and other third-party advertising partners. These partners may use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites, in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may interest you.

Google uses advertising cookies (including the DART cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. You can learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info/choices.

Third-party services

Game data is stored with Supabase, our database provider. The site itself is hosted on Vercel. Both providers may process standard technical data (such as IP address) as part of delivering the site to you, under their own respective privacy policies.

Children's privacy

Dittodle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
